QUESTIONING WORRY AND REASSURANCE

THE QUESTION

What am I asking reassurance to settle?

When I worry, I may look for an answer.

I may ask another Human, an expert, a System, AI, or myself whether what I am worried about is likely, reasonable, safe, okay, or going to work out.

Sometimes the answer gives me information.

Sometimes it changes how I feel.

Sometimes I receive an answer and still find myself asking again.

Questioning reassurance does not require me to stop seeking information or support.

It allows me to Question what I am asking the answer to do.

Am I asking to be told that I am right, capable, safe, prepared, reasonable, or making the right choice?

What remains mine to decide even after someone agrees with me?

What can the System actually know?

What does it calculate, predict, infer, or assume?

What happens when I experience the System’s confidence as certainty?

SOCIETY

What have I learned about where reassurance should come from?

Whose answers am I taught to trust?

When does agreement from others become evidence that something is true, safe, normal, or acceptable?
