A MINDSET SYSTEMS ARCHITECT

Mindset is often approached as something personal:

Attitude
Motivation
Confidence
Belief
Positive thinking

Dr. Julie looks at mindset more structurally, examining how thought operates within systems and how systems, in turn, influence how Humans think, feel, choose, behave, and understand themselves.

That includes internal Human systems such as thought, belief, emotion, habit, identity, memory, expectation, questioning, choice, and self-trust.

It also includes Human-created systems such as employment, Human Resources, education, healthcare, government, technology, finance, organizations, culture, and institutions.

So the question is not simply:

How do we change a mindset?

It is also:

  • What built this mindset?

  • What reinforces it?

  • What have we accepted without questioning?

  • What happens when Human assumptions become policies, structures, technologies, and institutions?

  • What happens when the Human begins questioning them?

And perhaps most importantly:

Who retains jurisdiction over the Human?

From Human Resources to Human Systems

Julie’s professional career began in business and Human Resources and grew into more than three decades of organizational leadership experience across private business, nonprofit organizations, and local government.

For more than a decade, she served as Director of Human Resources and Risk Management for a Florida municipal government, working within complex systems involving employees, leadership, labor relations, policy, benefits, organizational risk, public accountability, and institutional decision-making.

She later founded KEIVA JADE INSIDE BUSINESS, LLC, a Human Resources consulting company through which she continues to work directly with employers and leaders on HR, employment, organizational, and workforce-system matters.

Her professional experience gave her an unusually close view of a recurring Human pattern:

People identify a problem.

They create a system to solve it.

The system grows.

It develops rules, procedures, measurements, technologies, safeguards, incentives, and assumptions. Eventually, people can begin serving the system that was originally created to serve them.

That tension became central to Julie’s work.

Her inquiry expanded from Human Resources into a larger question:

What does it mean to remain Human inside Human-made systems?

The BOLDER Way™

Julie created The BOLDER Way™ as the broader architecture for that inquiry.

Its invitation is simple:

Think BOLDER. Work BETTER. Live FREER.

These are not three separate slogans.

They describe movement.

Think BOLDER.

Question what you have inherited, assumed, repeated, or accepted.

Recognize your own authority—and responsibility—in the act of thinking.

This is explored through Rebooting Human.

Work BETTER.

Examine what happens when Humans enter systems of employment, authority, policy, performance, technology, management, and Human Resources.

Ask not only whether the system functions, but what it asks of the Human inside it.

This is explored through Reimagining Work.

Live FREER.

Not free from responsibility.

Not free from consequence.

Not free from other people or every system.

But freer to recognize what is yours to think, feel, question, choose, create, accept, reject, change, and become.

The larger collective implications of Human agency are explored through Revitalizing U.S.

Together, the three areas follow thought moving outward:

from the Human → into work → into the systems Humans collectively create.

Think FOR Yourself

The BOLDER Way does not ask people to replace one prescribed worldview with another.

It is not:

“Stop thinking like them and start thinking like me.”

Its invitation is:

Think FOR Yourself.

That does not mean automatically rejecting authority.

It does not mean distrusting expertise.

It does not mean assuming every opinion is equally supported by evidence.

And it does not mean becoming oppositional simply to prove independence.

It means retaining responsibility for examining what is presented, considering evidence and other perspectives, questioning assumptions, changing your mind when warranted, and ultimately deciding what you accept as your own thinking.

The Being Human Freedoms

One developing framework within The BOLDER Way is The Being Human Freedoms:

Freedom to Think

Freedom to Feel

Freedom to Act

Freedom to Have

Freedom to Be

The framework explores questions of Human agency, influence, authority, boundaries, responsibility, and choice.

Where does the Human have meaningful authority?

Where do systems legitimately establish limits?

Where does influence become coercion?

Where does protection become control?

What belongs to the system?

What remains with the Human?

The framework does not prescribe every answer.

It exists to make the questions harder to ignore.

The Discipline of Human Questioning

Julie’s work begins with questions because questions can preserve something answers sometimes take away:

Human authority.

The Discipline of Human Questioning is a developing methodology for examining assumptions, beliefs, interpretations, choices, experiences, and systems without prescribing what the participant’s answers must be.

Its governing principle is:

The Discipline owns the questions.
The Human owns the answers.

A body of work built around independent thought cannot require intellectual obedience.

Writing, Research, Media, and Public Work

Julie writes and speaks at the intersection of:

Human thought
Human agency
Human freedom
Mindset
Questioning
Work
Human Resources
Employment systems
Organizational systems
Technology
Identity
Culture
Human-created systems

The BOLDER Way™ on Substack serves as the primary publication of record for her substantive essays, original intellectual development, research-led writing, and developing Human-systems work.

TheBOLDERWay.us serves as the permanent reference and knowledge architecture for that work—defining its concepts, documenting relationships and provenance, organizing its frameworks, and connecting readers to the original publications.

Her work frequently asks readers to look beyond whether a system is functioning as designed and consider another question:

What is the system doing to the Human inside it?

And then:

What might change if the Human begins thinking differently?

Exploring Being Human

Julie’s broader personal exploration of Being Human also includes interests and practices related to consciousness, energy, and wellbeing, including Reiki and her experience with LifeWave® products.

These interests represent another dimension of her continuing inquiry into Human experience.
